Cold Temperatures

Water meters and supply lines need to be protected from low temperatures, as both can freeze.  Frozen pipes may burst and can result in water damage to your property.  Residents and property managers should also pay attention to vulnerable areas.  Locate your master water shutoff so if necessary you can turn off your water where it comes into your home if a leak/break occurs.  Set your thermostat to at least 55 degrees Fahrenheit when your dwelling is unoccupied.  Insulate vulnerable areas.  The District is responsible for the public water distribution system (main lines, storage tanks & pumpstations), service lines are the responsibility of the property owner.
